Hello, fellow cinephiles!
In our last blog post, we wandered around Büyülü Fener Cinemas, in hopes of meeting like-minded people. Meanwhile, we came across the same issue that everyone had an opinion about: The movie-going experience becoming more costly day by day. Yes, the popcorn and snacks sold at the kiosk were always more expensive than the regular price. However, especially since the economic stagnation happening in Turkey at the moment, cinephiles have been hit with ticket price increases nearly every week.
This issue surrounding movie theaters has not only appeared in Turkey but also around the world. And many are turning their heads to the next younger generation in order to save the silver screen. So we questioned our peers, ages between 16 to 24, on their perspectives about the movie-going experience. Do they regularly pay a visit? What was the last film they watched? And what are the reasons they still find their way to movie theaters?




We asked three of the participants in person. These were their answers:
We hope this data does not discourage and dishearten your faith in our generation and the fate of the movie theater. We, from the SeeYouAtTheMovies blog, truly believe the renaissance of the movie theater age will make a comeback.
